Bahrain is an Arab constitutional monarchy in the Persian Gulf. It is an island country consisting of a small archipelago centered around Bahrain Island, situated between the Qatar peninsula and the north eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, to which it is connected by the 25-kilometre (16 mi) King Fahd Causeway. Bahrain’s population is 1,234,571 (c. 2010), including 666,172 non-nationals. It is 765.3 square kilometres (295.5 sq mi) in size, making it the third-smallest nation in Asia after the Maldives and Singapore.
Bahrain is the site of the ancient Dilmun civilisation. It has been famed since antiquity for its pearl fisheries, which were considered the best in the world into the 19th century. Bahrain was one of the earliest areas to convert to Islam, in 628 CE. Following a period of Arab rule, Bahrain was occupied by the Portuguese in 1521, who in turn were expelled in 1602 by Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty under the Persian Empire. Bahrain had the first post-oil economy in the Persian Gulf. Since the late 20th century, Bahrain has invested in the banking and tourism sectors. Importing A Vehicle:
- Valid insurance is required.
- The shipper must arrange to obtain the Central Population Registration (CPR) card through the employer’s Human Resources department; once the CPR is obtained, the shipper may obtain a temporary license plate.
- Vehicles should not be shipped with a full gasoline tank.
- The shipper should obtain vehicle insurance directly from an insurance company.
- An ocean freight shipment can be cleared without a Residence Permit with a deposit payable at clearance; the deposit amount will be refunded upon the Residence Permit is stamped, which takes approximately 2 weeks (non-citizens).

All family members who are at least 18 years old and intend to drive in Bahrain should take along a valid U.S. drivers license. Local authorities permit U.S. license holders to drive for one month until a permanent Bahraini license is obtained.

A medium-sized, light-colored compact car, with six or fewer cylinders and air-conditioning, is considered ideal. The Bahrain Traffic Directorate does not normally register cars with darkly tinted windows, though in recent years, the Directorate has permitted their registration on the condition that U.S. Government employee owners sign a waiver promising to export the vehicle prior to departing Bahrain.
Although it is difficult to drive large cars in many parts of Manama, they are very common. A mechanically simple car is preferable since maintenance/repair can be expensive, and spare parts are often in short supply. Air-conditioning is a necessity in Bahrain for 10 months of the year. Tubeless tires are repaired with tubes. Radial/steel-belted tires deteriorate quickly in the extreme heat. Local third-party insurance is required and is available for less than $100 for most cars. Full coverage costs about 5% of the value of the car. Gasoline prices are comparably lower than U.S. prices. Unleaded gasoline is available.

- We give you the pricing of your chosen vehicle.
- Once you agree on a vehicle we send you a proforma invoice via email
- Payment, Documentation and Shipping
- You pay for the vehicle via wire transfer (Telegraphic Transfer) and send us a receipt.
- We obtain export documentation and load the vehicle in the earliest vessel heading your way to Bahrain
- Drafts and Pictures Emailed
- We send you loading pictures and email you draft BL and draft Commercial invoice and your ship schedule.
- You alert us in advance if you require any specific documents
- Documents Couriered
